The 8th Bi-Annual Coding/Essay/Art Contest
Essay/Art Contest General Guidelines
1. Each student may submit no more than one submission per category
2. The deadline to submit is April 21st, 2024, at 11:59 PM PST.
3. All submissions MUST relate back to the prompt of the contest:
Essay Category Guidelines
1. The essay must be the student's original work. NO plagiarism.
Art Category Guidelines
1. The art piece can be of any medium (digital, drawing, painting, sculpture, sketch, etc.)
2. The art piece must be submitted in one image file (NO videos).
3. Please submit a good-quality image (nice lighting and not blurry).
4. The art piece cannot contain more than 20 words.
The following cash prizes will be issued per contest category
1st place - $20 cash prize
2nd place - $15 cash prize
3rd place - $10 cash prize
If you wish to submit an entry for both categories, please submit this form twice. The deadline for submission is April 21st, 2024, at 11:59 PM PST.
Essay/Art Contest: This is a wonderful opportunity for students to become more involved with Coding Power while also receiving cash prizes!
Our Essay Prompts: Students can pick one from the following two prompts.
1. What are some examples that you believe demonstrate ways that coding can be used to improve society?
2. Create a concept for a new programming language which suits your needs and wants. Explain how it would work, why, and what it would accomplish.
Our Art Prompts: Students can pick one from the following two prompts.
1. Create a prototype design for an app that you imagined.
2. Choose your favorite line of code and turn it into a drawing.

The 7th Bi-Annual Coding/Essay/Art Contest
Coding Contest: Students will compete in person at the address above to test their knowledge and sharpen their skills, and each of the students will receive a categorized grade report! This event is only open to current students.
To get ready for the coding contest, we recommend students: 1. Study CP101/CP102 lecture notes
2. Practice the String 1, Logic 1, Logic2, String 2, and Array 1 sections from codingbat.com
LOCATION: Zoom,DATE & TIME: December 11th/13th, 7:30 - 9:00PM
Essay/Art Contest: This is a wonderful opportunity for students to become more involved with Coding Power while also receiving cash prizes!
Our Essay Prompts: Students can pick one from the following two prompts.
1. What are your predictions about the future of technology?
2. How would you teach a coding class?
Our Art Prompt:
Redesign an app logo and explain your decisions and redesigns
